Earlier today, Nintendo held their Nintendo Direct E3 2021 Broadcast. Unfortunately I was at work, so I had to wait ALL day before I could finally see the new stuff that will be released. I was excited about many things, such as Metroid Dread and Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania (I played a lot of Super Monkey Ball as a child). However, I was a little disappointed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons didn’t have any exciting announcements about updates. But the good news is that we finally have some real news about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2! If you haven’t seen the trailer for Breath of the Wild 2, and you don’t want spoilers, I would highly recommend watching the trailer below before continuing…
Honestly, parts of the footage happened so quickly it was hard to figure out exactly what was going on. But luckily we know these two things for sure…
Parts of the gameplay will be in the sky, which is maybe why they’ve been taking a longer time to develop the game. Sure they already had the map from the previous game, but they decided to expand the playable area of the map and in turn allow us to enjoy Breath of the Wild in a new way.
We also know for sure that unless something goes wrong, they will be releasing Breath of the Wild 2 next year! My guess is that means they are very close to being done, and are just putting the finishing touches on this game!
And while this hasn’t been confirmed by the developers of Breath of the Wild 2, I noticed one other thing. In the first trailer for Breath of the Wild 2, which was released two years ago, all of the footage showed Link and Zelda together. They are obviously looking for something (probably Ganon), and they end up finding the body of Ganondorf underground. However, in this trailer, it immediately starts with Zelda disappearing and falling into darkness. In the rest of the trailer, you only see gameplay footage of Link as he explores Hyrule. The reason this is interesting, is for a while there were theories this might be a coop game with the playable characters being Link and Zelda. But now, I’m feeling pretty confident that this is just going to be a solo game with Link as the protagonist.
Either way, I’m feeling really pumped about getting more information for Breath of the Wild 2! Hopefully they’ll have a more specific release date by the next Nintendo Direct Broadcast! Was Breath of the Wild 2 your favorite part of the latest Nintendo Direct too? If you are more excited about another game, what is it? Let me know in the comments below?
You know what nobody has suggested about the scene of finding Ganondorf and Zelda fallingIt’s a premonition/dream at the start of the game. If this game is tied to a skyward sword, considering how the skyward sword begins …….

I didn’t even think about that! And the fact that it happens in Skyward Sword too definitely makes it a possibility! Good eye!
